The Tragedy of Julius Caesar: Best Intentions

The best intentions of good, noble people can lead to tragedy. Discuss and provide support.

  1. I would completely agree with this statement. It all boils down to what each person interprets as good and bad. If my intention is to make good things happen for you, I could very possibly be strongly mislead by the fact that what is good in my eyes isn't always whats good for others. In trying my hardest to make my vision of good come upon the other person in the situation, I could in reality be pushing them away. It's all based on interpretation, careful wording, and over all basis for your intentions.

  2. This happens to me all of the time. An example would be when you say something, mean one thing, and it is interpreted another. On many accounts this has happened to me, and to my peers. I think it is all about how you look at things. One good thing can be bad to another but be the completely the same act.
    Like what Devin said:)

  3. This statement is very true. All people are raised differently because they have different parents and situations that shape who they are. Because of these differences, every person sees each situation they face differently. Their perception of good and bad are based on those early up-bringings also.

  4. I would have to agree with this statement. I honestly think that it's all about interpretation on good and bad situations. How one was brought up could very well be the reason on why they think a certain way. What one person sees isn't always someone elses view on a particular thing.

  5. I agree with this statement. People can interpret a message differently than it was orginally intended. The person might take it differently because of beliefs, how they were raised, or simply because they misunderstood.

  6. I agree with the statement. Sometimes people mean well, but their actions are very poor. The sad part is that they don't know that what they're doing isn't right. They think that they're helping, when in reality, they're just making it worse.

  7. I agree with the statement. When someone thinks they are doing the right thing, they normally only think about themselves before others. And, even though its in their best intentions, they may harm others without realizing it.

  8. Unfortunately, this statement is completely true. One person can think they are doing the right thing for another, but it all comes down to what the other perceives it to be. Perspective is an unstable variable that differs vastly from one individual to the next and can transform a situation for the better just as easily as it can transform a situation for the worse. So, yes, one's best intentions can lead to tragedy, even if it is merely an accident.

  9. I agree with this statement.A person may have the best intentions in a situation and may be bright, but that does not always lead to success. A noble person is labeled as noble or good usually because of a few acts of triumph. People believe in these intentions and are let down because they expected to much and see this noble person as invincible.

  10. Things don't always go the way we plan or intend. Take an over protective mother for example. All she wants is her daughter to grow up pure-not get into drugs, wait till later for boys, and have honest friends. Good intentions, right? Well, her daughter feels pressured and decides to act out, doing everything her mother tells her not to. Whoops. Somethings just happen..and you have to live with the consequences.

  11. I would agree with this statement. What one may thinks is good and true, can turn out to be wrong and lead to tragedy when it comes down to another one'view or in another situation. Everyone has good intention when helping others but the ways they do it is most likely what lead to a success or tragedy.

  12. This statement is so true. Most everyone has good intentions but things happen and they don't always turn out for the best, but that is just life. Experience and learning can come from good intentions gone wrong. It just depends on the situation, what is said or done, and how it is interpreted.

  13. I agree with this statement. An example of good intentions gone astray would be world leaders trying to do what's best for their country when in the end it may just end up costing lives and/or money. Even though in their eyes, they may think that the whole country will prosper. They may fail to see the bigger picture.

  14. I strongly agree with this statement. Just like everyone said it really depends on how you take things and example of one may be I could go up to you and tell you that you look very nice today and you could take it the wrong way by saying back "are you saying I didn't look pretty before." It's really how people would interpret what's good and what's bad.

  15. This statement is very ture. How you are raised by your parents determines how you look at the situation you are faced with. Someone might say that is good and another might say it is bad. Also it determines how people interpret what you say.

  16. I agree with this statement. You can believe that something is good, but it really depends on a persons point of view. No one is exactly alike, therefore our thoughts vary from person to person. Our differences do cause us conflicts in life, but it can't be helped because its how we personally think.

  18. This topic is one where I agree strongly with. Not many statements can be as true as this. One may act believing their actions are saint-like. But the common mistake that collapses their good intentions is the perspective. The point of view may vary from a person to the next. This causes some to see actions/intentions to range from being sincere all the way to the conclusion of it being corrupt.
The statement "The best intentions of good, noble people can lead to tragedy" is interesting to me. To me all I needed to see was just one word to signal to me where I stand on it. "PEOPLE" Human beings are bound with a curse. This applies to everyone. We all make mistakes. We all sin. It's human nature and it is inevitable. Regarding to what was just said, all people even with the best intentions of goodness/nobility can definitely cause a tragedy. On the bright side though, situations do not always result in tragedies.

  19. I believe this statement is totally true. Many times before it has happen even to me. I have tried to help someone in the way I thought was best and it just made it worse for that person. I was trying to help my dad clean out the garage, but I did not put his stuff where he wanted it. In the long run it took more time for my dad to clean the garage because he had to undo what I did and redo it the way he wanted. Though my intentions were good it made it harder for my dad.

  20. This is a very common topic to talk about! I think every word is true. We often hear of mothers who have no money, but have children to feed and cannot buy food for them. She knows she has to feed them and in order to do that she has to steal the food. Stealing is morally wrong, but in the mother's case that is the only way. She did this to do the right thing even though it was wrong.

  22. I agree with this completely. I have had this happen to me. I had an intention to stick up for one of my friends and yet she ended up getting mad at me and now we don't speak. Which I just don't get. Even if we try our best and our intentions are good doesn't mean that the outcome will always be what we want. Sometimes you have to go through a tragedy in order to get to where your supposed to be. It may end up that what you intended to do wasn't supposed to happen.

  23. I agree with this statement utterly and completely.
I like to think of my favorite TV show, "Dexter". He is a serial killer if serial killers. He kills the bad people who have hurt or tormented many others, and his intentions are very good, but he is looked as a murderer. Not a murderer of muderers, but just a cold blooded killer. He has a craving for killing and he knows that what the other are thinking means they will attack again, so he tries to save lives but killing them. I must say i see him as a savior more than a killer. His intentions are good but this leads to trageties.

  24. The best intentions a person has is always the right decision to make. However, tragedy can result. This is not something we want or need, but it does happen. If you have the intention to stand up for yourself to your parents, it may come off as a bad attitude and result in the tragedy of grounding.

  25. I agree with this statement completely. if i thought i made something good people can interpret it differently.it may look good to one person but bad to another. it all just depends on how the person chooses to look at it.

  26. I think everyone has a different opinion on what a "good intention" is. To you it may be a good intention but to someone else it may be an awful intention. I do agree that sometimes your good intentions can turn into tragedies. Sometimes you might have a good intention but go about it the wrong way. Which would cause a bad ending. Or like i said before, your good intention was not viewed good by someone else. For example, im a christian so if i were trying to witness to someone and in the process something i said affended them. To me it was a good intention but it was not one to them.
